Interpreting OPI Results
| How are examinees rated? |
| *Candidates are given a holistic rating based on all of the following factors: |
| Vocabulary, Grammar, Pronunciation, Fluency, Linguistic tasks and Socio-linguistic/cultural awareness |
| *Candidates are rated on an 11-point scale, ranging from “0,” no functional proficiency, to “5,” educated native-speaker proficiency. |
| What are plus levels? |
| *Plus levels (0+, 1+, 2+, 3+, 4+) |
| Demonstration of inconsistent proficiency at the next higher base level |
| For example, a 1+ speaker can do the same things with the language a 2 speaker can, but he/she will not do them as well. |
